Armed Robbery On Football Field Prompts Lockdown At High School: Hyattsville Police

An armed robbery unfolded on a high school football field in Hyattsville this week, prompting a lockdown.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — An armed robbery that unfolded on the football field at Northwestern High School in Hyattsville Wednesday prompted a lockdown Wednesday.

The Hyattsville Police Department tweeted that the incident happened around 1 p.m. No one was injured.

According to DC News Now, school officials sent a letter to families saying that the school was placed on lockdown from 1:35 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. while police and school security searched the building. A student was targeted on the football field and police initially believed the armed robber ran back into the school, which led to the lockdown being implemented.

Police did catch one of the suspects who is a student, but the suspect was unarmed.
