Arrest Made After Bullet-Riddled Victim Found Near Bowie
A Washington, DC, man has been charged with the July murder of a Lanham man, whose body was found on a Bowie area road with gunshot wounds.

BOWIE, MD — A Washington, DC, man was arrested Monday for a July shooting that left a Lanham man's bullet-riddled body lying an a Bowie area road, authorities say.
Suspect Jamal Ford, 26, of the 3000 block of First Street in Southeast Washington, was arrested at his home with the assistance of the Metropolitan Police Department. He is awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
Police say Ford shot Cleve Monnity, 44, of Lanham, who was discovered lying in a tree-lined suburban road. Bowie police officers responded to the 15700 block of Everst Drive about 10:41 p.m. on July 30 after someone reported that a man was lying in the roadway, according to the police report.

"Upon arrival, Bowie officers checked the subject for a pulse which was negative," the report said. "Fireboard responded and attempted to resuscitate the subject, at which time they discovered the subject was suffering from several gunshot wounds." Monnity was pronounced dead on the scene.
The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect and the victim were in an ongoing dispute which escalated into the fatal shooting.
