Local Event: Last Chance to Participate - 10/3 Old Bowie Arts on the Ave (patch.com) — Bowie artists and makers still have a short window to grab a spot at Old Bowie Arts on the Ave, happening Saturday, October 3 in Old Town Bowie. The city's growing community arts festival will feature local vendors, workshops, kids' activities, food trucks, and entertainment, with applications due by September 28 for the remaining limited spaces.
   

2. Sep 25 Paid In Full (pgsuite.com) — Bowie State University students from Prince George's County's District 8 are seeing their unpaid balances wiped out thanks to a $360,000 grant tied to MGM National Harbor impact funds. The money clears fall debts and sets aside more help for spring, letting dozens of students stay enrolled, re-enroll, or finally receive long-delayed diplomas without financial holds.
   

3. Maryland 7-Eleven Sells Two Identical Tickets Worth $100,000 (mocoshow.com) — A Bowie 7-Eleven on Ruby Lockhart Boulevard just sold two identical Pick 5 tickets that turned a retired D.C. Transit Authority worker into a $100,000 winner. His son bought both tickets using his dad's favorite numbers, netting the store a $1,000 retailer bonus and giving locals another reason to check their own tickets.
   

4. Md. delegation secures $8.6M to protect religious institutions (baltimorepostexaminer.com) — One of Bowie's own institutions, Chabad Lubavitch of Bowie Maryland, is among 49 Maryland religious and community centers sharing $8.6 million in new federal security grants. The funding, backed by the state's congressional delegation, will help local congregations upgrade safety measures as hate-related threats rise, aiming to ensure residents can worship and gather with greater peace of mind.
   

5. Bowie State Set to Enter CIAA Play vs. Elizabeth City State (bsubulldogs.com) — Bowie football fans can track Bowie State's first CIAA matchup today as the Bulldogs visit Elizabeth City State, still seeking their first win of the season. The team returns home to Bowie's Bulldog Stadium on October 3 to host Shaw University, marking the long-awaited home opener and a chance to reset their season under first-year head coach Dawson Odums.
