Bingo Fan Wins Big, Will Pay Off Bills

A Prince George's County mother of three turned her $2 Maryland Lottery ticket into a $30,000 windfall.

TEMPLE HILLS, MD — A 52-year-old Temple Hills woman who enjoys playing bingo-style scratch-offs is still basking in the glow of a $30,000 Lucky Bucks Bingo win.

She favors the Maryland Lottery’s bingo-style games, she said, because they are relaxing to play and she can take her time doing so. Two weeks ago, while stressed out, she bought three Lucky Bucks Bingo scratch-offs in hopes of blowing off some steam and relaxing. She played the $2 games in Central Avenue Liquors in Capitol Heights and there was nothing relaxing about what happened next.

The third scratch-off revealed the game’s $30,000 top prize.

“I knew right away, it was a winner,” the winner said in a Maryland Lottery news release. “I just fell to my knees, I was so happy.”

She told Lottery officials she had to rest a few minutes and catch her breath before going back to work. “I thought I would pass out,” said the woman. “This is truly amazing and I am thankful.”

When the mother of three calmed down, she returned to her job as a store manager. She couldn’t keep the news to herself, however, so she texted her oldest daughter about the win. Later that day, she also told her two youngest children about her good fortune.

The happy woman said her prize comes at the right time. She plans to use some of it to move into an apartment and the rest will go to pay bills.
