Blogging is something I have wanted to do for a very long time. It wasn't that I lacked confidence to put my thoughts out there for all of the world to see. It's not about being afraid of criticism and I sure as hell am not worried about pissing someone off with my opinion......the signing up part was the hard part. Navigating through all the computer lingo intimiated me and I couldn't get my 12 year old to help me.
The computer has been a bit scarey for me simply because I don't understand the language. Upload & download. Cut & paste when there are no scissors or glue used. And the files, there are so many different files and while I'm on it, what the hell is a gig or a ram?
I grew up knowing how to program the VCR before my parents even knew how to set the time or press play. I couldn't wait for us to get a microwave so I could "nuke" my food. And remote controls......awesome!!

My first cell phone was a car phone plugged into the car and I didn't own a purse large enough to carry it. It was huge! Speaking of huge, I owned a boom box with detachable speakers that played cassette tapes that I would have to rewind with a pen if the tape "got eaten". I could splice those things back together. When I didn't want to lug my box, I had a Walkman with the foamy ear phones that sat on your ears.
I am loving this Bowie Patch because it turned this experience into something enjoyable, easy, and a sort of purging. I have always loved writing my thoughts down and now I can put them out there and hopefully connect with somebody or anybody who may be experiencing something similar.

Just a few days ago I was sitting with this little girl who had come into my shop. She was four years old and I was showing her how to use the mouse and play card games on my lap top. She was a bit frustrated because of the lack of coordination when using the mouse. I kept promising her she would get it with practice. She looked up at me and asked, "Did you play on computers when you were little like me." I told her no and she wanted to know why not. This is the crazy part: I said to her, "Because they hadn't been invented yet."
