BOWIE, MD — Officials said a blaze caused $75,000 in damage to a Bowie townhome early Wednesday morning. Nobody was hurt, but the second floor of the house partially collapsed, an incident report noted.

Firefighters arrived to the 3700 block of Eight Penny Lane around 12:03 a.m., the write-up added. Crews reported that the front of the first and second floors were on fire, and some flames continued into the attic.

A tweet informed that the occupants evacuated after the smoke alarms went off. The sprinklers also activated properly, the report clarified. The Anne Arundel County Fire Department assisted the Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department's ensuing response.
