Bowie Man Arrested in Connection with Shooting at Community Center
The man was taken into custody on Saturday.

A Bowie man has been arrested in connection with the shooting on Tuesday at the Huntington Community Center.
Christopher King Jr., 22 was arrested on June 20 after he was found hiding at a residence in Lanham, police said.
Patrol officers responded to the Huntington Community Center for the report of the sound of shots fired on June 16.

According to police, investigators determined that King allegedly shot 23-year-old Melvin Thomas, Jr. multiple times following an altercation. King ran from the scene, police said.
Police say acquaintances dumped Thomas at Doctors Community Hospital in Lanham. Officers found the crime scene at the center and later located Thomas at the hospital.

Thomas remains hospitalized in stable condition.
βAlthough a verbal altercation immediately preceded the shooting, other factors have bearing,β police said in a press release. βKing and Thomas were neighbors and acquaintances; also, King is the brother of 18-year-old Devante Marcus King, who was killed by gunfire on June 4.β
