Bus Bursts Into Flames With Kids On Board After Motorcycle Crashes Into It: Police
A PGCPS bus caught on fire with students on board after a motorcyclist head the school bus head on, according to police.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A motorcyclist crashed into the front of a Prince George's County Public Schools bus Thursday, which then caught on fire with students and the driver still on board. Flames at the front of the bus forced the driver and three students to escape out the back door of the bus. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Prince George's County Police officials said the incident happened around 4:30 p.m. in the 11200 block of Brandywine Road near Northgate Parkway in Clinton. According to the police department, the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Brandywine Road when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control, crossed into the northbound lanes and hit the bus head-on.
Investigators have identified the victim as 25-year-old Donovan Smith of Upper Marlboro.
