Longtime Bowie resident and award winning artist, Doris Voss Dasenbrock now has her third solo art exhibit at the Bowie Senior Center until April 30th. This exhibit, titled, “My Arist’s Vision – Then and Now”, features paintings in watercolors, oils, acrylics, and mixed media in a variety of subject setting completed from 1976 to 2026. An Artist Reception will be held on April 9 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and will feature live music with talented musician Jim Turk at the keyboard. Refreshments will be served so come and enjoy the artwork and the music.

BRAVE (Building Resilience After Very Difficult Experiences) is a peer community for middle and high school students who have lost a parent, with connection at its core. Through community gatherings and shared experiences, we create opportunities for teens to connect, feel understood, and know they are not alone.&nbsp;
While loss is what brings us together, connection is what B.R.A.V.E. is all about. Many of our events focus on fun, creativity, and community because healing doesn't always happen through talking. Sometimes it happens through simply being together.
Join BRAVE and the GW Art Therapy Program for a free community event created specifically for middle and high school students who have lost a parent.
Together, we'll paint, connect, and spend time with others who truly understand what it's like to navigate life after loss.
No artistic experience is needed. All supplies are provided.

Start your morning grounded and energized on Sunday, June 14, from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. in the parking lot of Bowie High School at the Juneteenth Reimagined Farmers Market. Shop local vendors, enjoy a 9 a.m. Mat Pilates session, visit the Buji Matcha pop-up, and take part in audience dance participation led by The Collection Project. This vibrant morning celebrates wellness, culture, and community in honor of Juneteenth.

City of Bowie kids and families are invited to celebrate Juneteenth through creativity, culture, and self-expression at the ArtBae Juneteenth Crown Decorating Workshop on June 18 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Kenhill Center.
In partnership with ArtBae, this hands-on workshop invites participants to design and decorate their own crowns using paint and other creative materials. Crowns have long symbolized pride, resilience, achievement, and heritage, making them a meaningful way to honor the spirit and significance of Juneteenth.
Families will explore their creativity while reflecting on themes of freedom, empowerment, and community. Whether inspired by history, culture, personal dreams, or vibrant colors, each participant will leave with a unique crown that celebrates individuality and the legacy of Juneteenth.
