Chick-fil-A Coming to Bowie Marketplace; Groundbreaking This Week

The mayor will be on hand to celebrate the arrival of the Atlanta-based chicken chain.

Chick-fil-A will be quite busy in the D.C. area this upcoming week. Not only will they be opening up only their second District location in Tenleytown on Aug. 11, but they'll also be breaking ground Tuesday, Aug. 9 on a location at Bowie Marketplace, according to a company statement.

The Atlanta-based chicken chain will join local officials and honored guests -- which include Bowie Mayor G. Frederick Robinson -- for a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday. The restaurant is expected to open in November.

"As a kid growing up, I remember going to the Bowie Marketplace shopping center with my family. I have so many cherished childhood memories of times spent with them there," Rob Herold, local franchise owner of Chick-fil-A at Bowie Marketplace, said in the statement. "To have the opportunity to be a meaningful part of the reopening of this shopping center breathes new life into so many of these memories for me. The fact that I get to open Chick-fil-A here means that I get to help make memories for future generations growing up in Bowie. It’s truly a dream come true."
