Child Sex Abuse Case Ends In Guilty Verdict For Prince George's Man

A Hyattsville man has been found guilty of sex abuse-related charges dating back to when a girl was 8 years old, prosecutors said.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A 62-year-old Hyattsville man has been convicted of sexually abusing a woman ten years ago when she was a child, according to Prince George's County State's Attorney Aisha Braveboy.

Braveboy said Monday during a news conference that Quinton Perry Sr. was convicted by a jury last week of sexually abusing the woman when she was a child, Braveboy said. Perry was taken into custody immediately after he was found guilty of sex abuse of a minor, sex offense and related charges.

According to Braveboy, the abuse started when the accuser was 8 and continued until she was 12. The survivor was 14 when she reported the abuse; she is now 18.

“I want to commend the victim in this case and the victim’s mother for having the strength and courage to come forward, face the abuser and see this case through the process of prosecution. While these types of cases can be extremely difficult to prove, justice is possible. However, if you or someone you know is being abused or has been in the past, I strongly encourage you to come forward,” Braveboy said during the news conference.

“There is no statute of limitations for child sexual assault, which means it is never too late to get justice," Braveboy added. "I also want to thank the attorney assigned to this case and the Prince George’s Police Department for an outstanding and thorough investigation that led to the indictment and conviction of Mr. Perry.”
