For some time, we’ve heard a familiar refrain from members of the local Jewish community: “Why isn’t there a kosher deli in Bowie?” This Sunday, August 23, Chabad of Bowie is answering that question—at least for one delicious afternoon. As part of the Chesapeake Baysox Jewish Community Day, we’ll be bringing an authentic kosher deli experience right to the concourse at the ballpark.
The Kosher Concession Stand will feature a menu of classic Jewish favorites, with something for just about everyone. Fans can enjoy a Moses in the Basket, a crispy latke, a slice of deli roll, a fancy eggroll, or a traditional potato knish. Whether these are foods you grew up eating or something you’re trying for the first time, it’s a chance to enjoy the tastes and flavors of Jewish tradition without leaving Bowie.
Jewish Community Day is a chance for families, friends, neighbors, and people of all backgrounds to come together for a fun day at the ballpark. And what better way to bring people together than over good food? We hope the kosher concession stand will add a taste of Jewish tradition to the day and give everyone something delicious to enjoy along the way.
For Bowie’s Jewish community, it is also exciting to see more opportunities for Jewish life happening right here at home. You shouldn’t always have to drive elsewhere to find Jewish experiences—or even a good knish. Events like Jewish Community Day give us an opportunity to celebrate Jewish identity openly and proudly while sharing it with the broader community around us.
