Day Care Worker Slams Child's Head on Table: Police

Police arrested 25-year-old D'Aira Nichel Thompson on charges that she assaulted a 3-year-old boy.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD — A woman is accused of physically abusing a 3-year-old boy at a day care she worked at in Upper Marlboro, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department.

Police have arrested 25-year-old D'Aira Nichel Thompson of Cheltenham on charges of second degree child abuse and second degree assault. Police say that on Oct. 18 at around 8 a.m., Thompson, who was a teacher at the day care, was trying to restrain the boy in a chair when she injured him.

"During the struggle Thompson told the boy to lay his head down and slammed the boy’s head on the table," the report states. "The Victim suffered a contusion to the right side of his head."
