Keenan Savoy Fitzgerald faces first and second degree murder charges in the weekend slaying.

FORESTVILLE, MD — Police have arrested a man in connection with the killing of another man who tried to break up a fight in Forestville on Sunday. Keenan Savoy Fitzgerald, 27, of Temple Hills faces first and second degree murder charges after police say he stabbed 50-year-old Emmanuel Sutton of Southeast D.C.

Police were called to the 7800 block of Parston Drive at around 2:45 a.m. on Oct. 9 over a report of a stabbing. Once there, they discovered Sutton suffering from trauma to the upper body, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department, which noted that he was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.

Authorities believe that Fitzgerald was involved in a fight with another man when Sutton tried to break it up, prompting Fitzgerald to stab him, the report states.
