Former Washington Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan to Host Donald Trump Fundraiser
Mike Shanahan, former Redskins head coach, will hold a fundraiser for presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump in Denver.
Former Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan is delving into GOP presidential politics as the host of a fundraiser this week for presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump.
Also hosting Trump’s visit Friday to Colorado for the Western Conservative Summit, and a fundraiser, is beer scion Pete Coors, reports The Denver Post.
Although Shanahan led the Redskins from 2010-13, going 24-40, he is a Denver-area resident. He won two Super Bowls as head coach of the Broncos, where he worked from 1995 to 2008.

The chance to schmooze with Shanahan, the beer baron and the New York billionaire businessman doesn’t come cheap. The cost is a minimum of $10,000 per couple to attend the lunch at Shanahan’s Denver home; for a mere $50,000 you can have a photo taken and be part of a VIP meeting with Trump, event organizers said.
Trump is aiming to shake off bad press coverage of his campaign this week after firing his embattled campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, and sliding in two recent national polls.

Overall, polls give presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton a 6.8 point lead over Trump, 46.4 to 39.6 point, says Real Clear Politics. The two most recent polls released over the weekend — one by ABC News/Washington Post and another by NBC News/Wall Street Journal — both showed Clinton gaining ground with voters. The ABC News/Washington Post poll put her lead at 12 points, while the other poll gave Clinton a 5 point lead.
U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Clinton took the stage together for the first time Monday in Cincinnati, Ohio, offering a rousing call to unite behind Clinton and, perhaps even more pointedly, against Trump.
The Massachusetts Democrat teamed up with Clinton at a campaign stop where the two displayed a united front and helped fan the flames of Democrats' fury toward Trump, who regularly belittles Warren as “goofy” on Twitter and calls her “Pocahontas,” questioning her remarks that she has native American ancestors.
On Monday, Warren blasted Trump for his “goofy” ball cap with the “Make America Great Again” slogan on it.
Warren came armed with what's now become her trademark: scathing critiques of Trump.
For example, "When Donald Trump says he’ll make America great, he means make it even greater for rich guys just like Donald Trump.”
Or, "He is a small, insecure money-grubber who fights for no one but himself."
Warren, beloved by the liberal left, has been hammering away at Trump since he became Republicans' presumptive nominee. After (finally) endorsing Clinton this month, she's now adding that firepower to the Democrat's campaign.
