Huge Changes May Be Coming to New Carrollton Metro Station

The project would eliminate parking spaces for Metro commuters and result in a shared parking garage.

NEW CARROLLTON, MD — Metro is seeking feedback from the pubic on some massive proposed changes to the area around the New Carrollton Metro station as part of a transit-oriented joint development project.

Metro is considering redeveloping Park & Ride surface lot 3 and the expansion of the bus loop and Kiss & Ride areas to make way for a new office building and multi-family residential building, according to a statement from Metro. The plan would also include removing 650 surface commuter parking spaces, which would be replaced by a parking garage with 100-300 spaces.

Under the plan, a private developer would create 200,000 square feet of office space, 250,000 square feet of multi-family residential space and 20,000 square feet of ground floor retail space.
