Indictment Handed Down To Suspended Prince George’s County Corporal

A suspended Prince George's County corporal has been indicted on a misdemeanor charge of misconduct in office.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A grand jury has indicted suspended Prince George’s County Corporal Anthony Brooke on a misdemeanor charge of misconduct in office.

The charge stems from a February 2021 stop on a vehicle in Capital Heights, according to the Prince George's Police Department. Brooke has been indicted for the allegation of assaulting the driver during the arrest. After reviewing body camera footage of all officers on the scene, the Prince George's Police Department's Internal Affairs Division referred the video to the Office of the State’s Attorney for Prince George’s County. Brooke will remain suspended pending the outcome of the indictment.

Brooke was assigned to Westphalia Division VIII at the time of his suspension. He joined the agency in 2015.

Brooke also is among the 14 officers accused of working private security shifts while simultaneously reporting for police duty. A Prince George’s County grand jury indicted the 13 active Prince George’s County Police officers and one recently retired officer on misconduct in office charges, as well as on felony and misdemeanor theft crimes, authorities said. The Prince George's County State’s Attorney’s Office said the case “should be handled internally.”

The officers involved in the secondary employment case, including Brooke, had their police powers suspended by April 2021 and were assigned to desk duty.
