On June 30,2026, Dr. Juliet Agocha joined fellow leaders at the Executive Policy Council meeting, where she reaffirmed a principle that has long guided her public service, the future of our communities depends on how well we invest in our youngest children today.

During the meeting, Dr. Agocha emphasized the urgent need to continue supporting families through strong, accessible, and high-quality early childhood education programs. According to her, early learning is far more than a policy priority, it is a transformational investment that strengthens families, empowers children, and builds thriving communities.

Research from UNC's Carolina Abecedarian project on child development institute 1972 consistently shows that "the first five years of a child's life are the most critical for brain development. During these formative years, children develop the cognitive, emotional, social, and communication skills that shape their academic achievement and lifelong success. High-quality early childhood education nurtures curiosity, builds confidence, and lays the foundation for responsible citizenship and economic opportunity."

She continues to advocate for policies that expand access to affordable early learning programs, strengthen support for working families, invest in early childhood educators, and ensure every child, regardless of income or ZIP code, will have equal opportunity to thrive.
