Lionel Richie to Perform at New MGM National Harbor Casino

The legendary pop star is the latest big guest to announce a December performance at the casino.

NATIONAL HARBOR, MD — Pop legend Lionel Richie is the latest star to be announced as a performer at the brand new MGM casino in National Harbor after it opens in December.

Richie will perform his greatest hits at the Theater at MGM National Harbor on Thursday, Dec. 22 at 9 p.m., joining Bruno Mars and Cher on the list of the first music performers at the new casino, according to a statement from MGM National Harbor.

The $1.4 billion resort is scheduled to open Dec. 8.

"The Theater at MGM National Harbor will offer an experience unlike any other in the region, providing fans the opportunity to see world-class entertainment in an intimate setting," the statement reads. "The new venue features seven VIP suites and flexible seating designs, accommodating 3,000 guests for reserved-seating events and just over 4,000 for general admission shows."

Tickets won't come cheap. You'll have to pay $200 to $395 to see the show. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Oct. 29, and can be purchased at mgmnationalharbor.com or ticketmaster.com.

"Lionel Richie, known for his honest lyrics and immortal voice that solidified him as an international superstar, has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide," the statement adds. "His storied career runs from his time with legendary band The Commodores to his 10-album solo catalog. From 2013 to 2015, fans flocked to cities and festivals worldwide to see his All The Hits, All Night Long tour, including Bonnaroo, Life Is Beautiful and Glastonbury, which enjoyed its largest crowd in history for his 2015 headlining set."
