Live Homemade Bomb, 600 Rounds Of Ammo Found In MD Home

Two Bowie men were arrested after MD State Police found a live homemade bomb in an Allegany County home's kitchen, along with guns and ammo.

A bomb squad from the Office of the State Fire Marshal was requested and confirmed that the IED found in a Cresaptown home was live. The IED was rendered safe and removed from the residence without incident by bomb technicians, the state police reported.

BOWIE, MD — Two Bowie men face numerous charges after Maryland State Police found a live homemade bomb, five ghost guns and 600 rounds of ammunition in a home in Allegany County.

State troopers were called to a home in the 13000 block of Tulip Street in Cresaptown Thursday for a firearms complaint. When troopers arrived, they heard a gunshot. As they headed toward the home, they saw a gun lying on the ground, according to state police

Troopers saw Darnell Demond Levy Jr., 21, and Paul Thomas Baylor III, 21, outside the home, according to a news release. The troopers executed a search warrant and found five ghost guns, more than 600 rounds of ammunition, a 3D printer that was actively printing a fire control unit for a Glock firearm, and a homemade improvised explosive device in the kitchen.

A bomb squad from the Office of the State Fire Marshal confirmed that the IED was a live device. The bomb was rendered safe and removed from the home without incident by bomb technicians, the state police reported.

Levy and Baylor were arrested and have been charged with possession of a firearm without a serial number, loaded handgun on a person, reckless endangerment, and other related charges. They are currently at the Allegany County Detention Center being held without bond.
