Belair Cooperative Nursery School Kicks off New Year
The Belair Cooperative Nursery School (BCNS), a non sectarian and non profit school which utilizes a cooperative structure to intensely involve families in the education experience, is kicking off 2015 with a series of activities to involve more families and businesses in the city and in the county. BCNS renewed its Spanish classes for its 3s and 4s classes, including increasing yoga instruction provided by neighboring business Imagine Yoga. The school will be partnering with a number of community nonprofits throughout this quarter to provide the children with interactive instruction on animals, public safety, and community service.
The preschool is also planning a number of fundraisers and charitable events in order to integrate and involve parents and students in the community. BCNS is partnering with Applebees at 4100 Crain Highway, Bowie MD, to host a flapjack breakfast on February 7, from 8 to 10am. This breakfast is open to the public, and tickets are $10 per person. The proceeds will continue to benefit the cooperative’s community programs.

Finally, BCNS also plans to hold open houses for new and prospective parents and students for the 4 year old and 5 year old classes will be held on February 4, from 9;30am to 11am. BCNS’ Open House for the 3 year old classes and Enrichment classes (emphasis on math and science) will occur on February 3, 9:30am to 11am. BCNS will be accepting applications for the 2013 – 2014 school year during those times as well. All in all, the preschool is thriving and focusing on building community partnerships that instill in its students and families a spirit of civic participation and leadership.
