Man Charged In Shooting Death, Setting Fire: Prince George's Police

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A 40-year-old Lanham man has been charged in connection to the fatal shooting of 56-year-old Roger Neal of Hyattsville.

On May 3 at approximately 2:05 p.m., emergency workers responded to a call about an apartment fire in the 6100 block of 42nd Avenue. Firefighters found Neal at the 3-story garden apartment with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicated that Marcell Billups shot Neal during an argument then started the fire in the kitchen. The two men knew each other, according to the Prince George's County Police Department.
