Memorial Day 2023: What's Open, Closed In Bowie, Prince George's County

As we remember U.S. military personnel on Memorial Day, various facilities and services will be closed or modified for the holiday.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD β€” Memorial Day serves as a time to remember those who died while serving in the U.S. armed forces. Many services, agencies and government offices in Bowie and other communities in Prince George's County will be closed Monday for the holiday.

Bowie's city offices will be closed Monday. Trash and recycling collection in Bowie will not be collected Monday and those with a Monday collection day will wait until their next regularly scheduled pick up day.

Hyattsville’s administrative offices will be closed Monday. There will be no Monday yard waste or compost pick-ups for the week. Regular trash and county recycling routes will remain the same.

Laurel's city and passport offices will be closed Monday. Trash and recycling collections originally scheduled for Monday will be on Tuesday. Tuesday’s residential trash and recycling will be collected on Wednesday with no change to Tuesday’s commercial collections. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday trash, recycling and composting pickups are unchanged. There won't be residential bulky pickup the week of Memorial Day.

Upper Marlboro town offices will be closed Monday. Trash, bulk trash and yard waste originally scheduled for Monday will fall on Tuesday.

Greenbelt offices will be closed Monday. Trash collection schedules will be adjusted for observance of Memorial Day and can be seen here.

College Park offices will be closed Monday and the trash collection schedule will be bumped out a day so Monday will be Tuesday, Tuesday on Wednesday and Wednesday on Thursday.

Riverdale Park offices will be closed Monday. Trash will not be collected until Thursday.

The Prince George's County Memorial Library Services will be closed May 28-29.

The Animal Services Facility will be closed.

The Brown Station Road Sanitary Landfill will be closed.

The Brown Station Road Public Convenience Center will be closed.

The Electronics Recycling Acceptance Site will be closed.

The Household Hazardous Waste Acceptance Site will be closed.

The Missouri Avenue Solid Waste Acceptance and Recycling Center will be closed.

The Prince George’s County Organics Composting Facility will be closed.

The Prince George’s County Materials Recycling Facility will be closed.

Bulky trash will not be collected Monday. Scheduled county collections will be Tuesday through Friday. Curbside recycling and bulky trash collection will be Tuesday through Friday.

Residential food scraps and yard trim collections will not be collected on Memorial Day but will resume June 5.

TheBus, a public transit service operated by the Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation, will not operate Monday but resume on Tuesday. The county's Call-A-Bus and PGC Link services, including dialysis transportation, will not operate on Monday either but resume Tuesday.

Also, PGC311 will be closed on Monday and will resume regular operations on Tuesday. However, residents can still submit service/issue requests online at PGC311.com.
