Officer Shoots Armed Robbery Suspect, 3 Men In Custody: Prince George's Police
Three suspects have been arrested in connection to an armed robbery during which one suspect was shot by an officer, police say.
DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD — Two suspects have been charged in connection to an armed robbery in District Heights where police say one man ran toward an officer who then fired his gun, shooting the suspect.
The incident happened March 28 around 3:05 p.m. Detectives were watching the movements of a carjacked vehicle in the 5700 block of Silver Hill Road that had been stolen at gunpoint Wednesday on Brooks Drive in District Heights.
Two suspects, later identified as 24-year-old Edward Leroy Brown and 26-year-old Kanard Bishop, along 18-year-old Kahlill Boyd, all from Washington, D.C., parked the carjacked vehicle in front of a store on Silver Hill Road. They put on masks and went into the store. Detectives followed them and saw the three men armed with weapons behind the counter committing a robbery, according to the police department.

The officers told the suspects to drop their weapons but they ran out the back door and into a parking lot where other officers were at. Brown ran toward one detective who shot him in the lower half of his body. He was taken to the hospital and has since been released. Both Brown and Bishop are in custody and their guns were recovered in the parking lot, police said.
Boyd took off in the carjacked vehicle after hitting an unmarked police vehicle. He was arrested in Washington, D.C.

Brown and Bishop are each charged with armed robbery, assault and firearms charges. They are in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Boyd charging him with armed robbery, assault and firearms offenses. Additional charges are anticipated against the suspects as the investigation into the incident and the initial carjacking continue.
The Internal Affairs Division is investigating the actions of the officer who discharged his duty weapon. As is standard procedure, he is now on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. That officer joined the agency in 2010 and is assigned to the Bureau of Investigation.
