Ordering Takeout and Delivery Can Make Dinner Easy on Halloween Night

Halloween is a busy night for people who go out to costume parties as well as for parents who take kids trick-or-treating. What's the best way to ensure that everyone has a real meal before the festivities begin? A recent survey by the National Restaurant Association reveals that 20 percent of respondents plan to order takeout or delivery from a restaurant.

“While not a traditional holiday for dining out, Halloween is clearly an occasion where restaurants play a major role in celebrations, according to our new research,” said Hudson Riehle, senior vice president of the Research and Knowledge Group for the National Restaurant Association in a release.

The National Restaurant Association surveyed 1,116 adults on Oct. 20-23 about their plans for Halloween 2011. A third of younger adults (age 18-34) who responded said that they'll order takeout or delivery along with 28 percent of families with children.

“In addition, Halloween falls on a Monday this year–the least popular day of the week to dine out–which may give restaurants a welcome sales boost in this continued challenging economic environment," Riehle added.
