In 2015, Marlett was suspended without pay after he was accused of spanking his girlfriend's 3-year-old son until he was unconscious. He was later indicted by a grand jury on child abuse charges.
Marlett was watching the child while the boy's mother made dinner, and the child soiled the bed. This reportedly angered Marlett, who spanked the boy and caused the child to hit his head against the wall, which knocked the toddler out, according to reports.
In a statement provided to Fox 5 DC, Prince George's County State's Attorney Aisha Braveboy said she was aware of the video and that it is under investigation by police.
"We don't know what circumstances were. We don't know if there was a violation of departmental policy or the law, you know? That occurred. But that's why the internal affairs is looking into it, and they'll make a decision," Braveboy told the news station.
