PG County Firefighter Adopts Kitten He Rescued (Video)
Little George now has a new home thanks to a firefighter who fell in love with him.

LANDOVER HILLS, MD -- A firefighter has a new furry little friend after rescuing a kitten that had climbed into a car's fender in Landover Hills last month.
It all started back on June 22 when a woman driving to the store heard a "funny noise" coming from the front end of her car, according to a report from the Prince George's County Fire Department.
"When she arrived in the parking lot on Annapolis Road in Landover Hills she was surprised to find a small kitten had hitched a ride within the fender," the report states. "Not being able to reach the small kitten she turned to her local firefighter/medics for help."

Firefighters from the Landover Hills Fire/EMS Station 830 responded, including Capt. Danon Ushinski, who had adopted a kitten a few months ago that his wife had rescued. They named her "Mystic," and she helped fill the void left behind by the death of their cat Jeffrey a couple months prior.
"We drove the engine non emergency to the scene and found a small grey kitten in the fender," Ushinski said in the report. "With approval of the car owner a decision was made to try and remove the fender for better access."

Ushinski and another firefighter were able to extract the kitten safely from the vehicle.
Ushinski planned to keep the kitten at the station for a little while and then take it to the local SPCA, where he and his wife, Morgan, would go through the adoption process again.
On Thursday, PG County Fire Spokesman Mark Brady tweeted that Ushinski had officially adopted George.
