21-Year-Old Faces Decades In Prison In Shooting Death: Prince George's Prosecutor

A 21-year-old Prince George's County man could face up to 60 years in prison after being found guilty of second-degree murder.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A 21-year-old District Heights man was found guilty of the second-degree murder of 34-year-old Anthony Forrest in October 2021.

After a four-day trial and six hours of deliberation, Charlie Stevenson was convicted of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in a crime of violence. Stevenson faces a potential maximum sentence of 60 years in prison.

On Oct. 22, 2021, about 5:30 p.m., Prince George’s County police officers responded to a Hyattsville location for a reported shooting. They found Forrest of Washington, D.C., in a parking lot with gunshot wounds. He was taken to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center for treatment, where he later died, according to the Prince George's Office of the State's Attorney.

The investigation revealed that Stevenson and Forrest knew each other and were involved in a dispute after Forrest was dropped off at the location of the shooting. Witnesses identified Stevenson as the shooter and said he shot Forrest multiple times in the chest just before driving off in a black Mercedes Benz with tinted windows, according to prosecutors.
