Police Arrest Alleged 4th of July Ice Cream Truck Shooter in Hyattsville

Authorities are still on the lookout for a second suspect in the shooting.

Police have made an arrest in connection with the shooting of an ice cream truck driver in Hyattsville back on the 4th of July.

Police have arrested 22-year-old Demetrice Littles of Virginia Avenue in Hyattsville, accusing him of shooting an ice cream truck driver several times shortly before 6 p.m. on July 4 in the 5100 block of Buchanan Street, according to the report from the Prince George's County Police Department. The driver, who was found by police lying on the ground, survived his injuries.

Witnesses said they heard the driver yell for help, followed by several gunshots, then he walked away from his truck and collapsed on the ground. He was shot in the parking lot of Berliner Foods, where ice cream truck vendors often get their supplies.

Police believe that Littles confronted the victim just before robbing and shooting him. Littles was apprehended while visiting his parole officer.

Another suspect is still wanted by police.
