Police Dog Hailed for Service to County
Facebook: Drug-sniffing K9 passed away Saturday after eight years of service.

Tributes are pouring in for a police dog who died Saturday after serving the Prince George’s County Police Department for eight years.
On its Facebook page Monday, the department posted news of the passing of Boscoe, a 14-year-old German shepherd. “Boscoe was the loyal partner of Sergeant Nick Cicale of our Special Operations Division,” the department said. “The team served this county from 2003 until Boscoe’s retirement in late 2011.”

In that time, the K9 team completed about 275 drug searches, recovering nearly $1,000,000 worth of illegal drugs. After his retirement, “Boscoe remained a beloved member of the Cicale family,” the department said.
As of about 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, the Facebook post had received 455 likes, 57 shares and 38 comments. In the comments section, Facebook readers expressed condolences to the Cicale family and lauded Boscoe for his service to the community.
