PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Police announced the identities of the men arrested and charged with shooting three Prince George's County officers Sunday evening. The two accused men are 45-year-old Andre Larnell Smith of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and 27-year-old Steven Maurice Warren of Washington.
Police say both men will face multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, assault and gun crimes. Smith's charges do not yet show in Maryland's court system, but Warren faces 13 charges.
Warren is up against three counts of each of the following crimes: attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and second-degree assault. He is also charged with firearm use for a violent crime.

Warren's first court appearance will be at a preliminary hearing on Sept. 24. He does not yet have a trial scheduled.
The Prince George's County Police Department says the shooting happed at 6:35 p.m. when officers responded to the 1300 block of Capital View Terrace in Hyattsville for reports of a residential robbery. The dashboard camera of the first-arriving officer caught the shooting on tape. The department posted that video on YouTube on Monday.

The two suspects fired at the officer as soon as their cruiser pulled up, police say. The officer was shot multiple times but still returned fire and called for extra help, according to a Monday evening update.
Police say the suspects got in their car and sped away, but they made a U-turn and headed back toward the crime scene. They continued to fire at officers while they fled, the police report says.
The suspects eventually crashed into a tree on Capital View Terrace, injuring both men. Neither suspect was shot, however.
Four officers fired shots during the incident. All four are on routine administrative leave as the investigation continues.
Police took both suspects into custody. They found one weapon at the crime scene and another in the suspect's car.
Two of the injured officers are recovering at home while one remains hospitalized. None of their injuries are considered life-threatening.
One officer was shot in the vest, and another was shot in the back. Protective vests saved both from serious injury, Interim Police Chief Hector Velez said. One officer will undergo surgery.
Of the wounded officers, the longest-tenured has worked for the department for 15 years. Another has served five years. The final injured officer has four years of under their belt.
Velez said the officers were able to administer aid to one another. Medics then took them to Prince George's County Hospital Center. Both Velez and County Executive Angela Alsobrooks called the wounded officers heroes.
"These officers are your officers, these officers are coming to work to protect, defend the residents of Prince George's County, and this evening these heroes did just that," Alsobrook said. "They ran toward danger … I want to ask our community tonight to keep all of these officers in your prayers, please keep their families in your prayers as well as the entire department."
Prince George's County Police are still investigating the shooting. They ask anybody with information to call 301-856-2660. Tipsters can remain anonymous by dialing 1-866-411-TIPS (8477)
