Two men were taken into custody after three officers were shot in Prince George's County Sunday, officials say.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Three officers were shot responding to a home invasion call in Prince George's County Sunday night, according to officials. Two men were taken into custody, police said.
The officers were wounded at 6:35 p.m. when they were dispatched to the 1300 block of Capital View Terrace, according to the Prince George's County Police Department. Interim Police Chief Hector Velez said the officers were able to administer aid to one another, and then taken to Prince George's County Hospital Center.
Both Velez and County Executive Angela Alsobrooks called the wounded officers heroes.

Within seconds of arriving at the scene they were ambushed and shot, Velez said. He told reporters at a news conference that all three injured officers are expected to be fine and return to work.
One officer was shot in the vest, another shot in the back, and protective vests saved both from serious injury, he said. One officer will undergo surgery.

"These officers are your officers, these officers are coming to work to protect, defend the residents of Prince George's County, and this evening these heroes did just that," the county executive said.
Alsobrooks said that she was shaken by the call about the shootings.
"They ran toward danger. ... I want to ask our community tonight to keep all of these officers in your prayers, please keep their families in your prayers as well as the entire department," Alsobrooks said.
Although police returned fire, authorities said neither of the men taken into custody was shot.
