Two new health care facilities are coming to Prince George's. This is part of the county's plan to improve local medicine.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Prince George's County recently broke ground on two new health care facilities. The centers are part of County Executive Angela Alsobrooks' plan to improve local medicine.
The first site, Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Southern Maryland, had its ceremony on Sept. 22. The Bowie location will be situated at 5081 Howerton Way. It is slated to open in fall 2022.
The in-patient hospital will have 60 beds and offer physical, occupational and speech therapies for those recovering from strokes, brain injuries and orthopedic conditions.

The second facility was the Ella at Carillon, a 125,000-square-foot health care office building. That center broke ground on Wednesday. It will feature customizable suites tailored to individual practices.
The Largo site will be located at 950 Harry S. Truman Drive, next to the new University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center. That hospital opened in June and replaced the Prince George's Hospital Center.

The Ella at Carillon is the first major groundbreaking in the area since the medical center opened. Alsobrooks hopes the Carillon development will become a medicinal and economic hub centered around the hospital.
The area is a short walk from the Largo Town Center as well as the Metro Blue and Silver lines. It also sits right off the Capital Beltway.

This year, the county additionally opened a multi-purpose Kaiser Permanente location in Bowie and started construction on a mental and behavioral health center in Lanham.
"Our administration is committed [to] investing in the health of residents and creating a continuum of healthcare across the County," Alsobrooks tweeted.
