Prince George's Businesses Are Among Fastest-Growing In America

One Maryland business was ranked No. 6 in the U.S., posting a growth rate of more than 20,000 percent. Hint: It involves murder mysteries.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Business is booming for some companies in Prince George's County. A survey says many local enterprises are among the fastest-growing in America.

Inc., a national business magazine, publishes a list of the 5,000 fastest-growing corporations each year. This year's publication included 19 Prince George's County establishments.

Greenbelt led the way with five finalists. The city is also home to the county's highest-ranked business.

T-Rex Solutions came in at no. 425, reporting 1,080 percent growth between 2016 and 2019. The company offers government services.

Prince George's County's proximity to Washington helped seven other government services corporations land on the rankings. The information technology industry had the second most representatives, bringing in five award winners.

Altogether, 149 Maryland enterprises made the list. Baltimore's Hunt A Killer scored the No. 6 spot in the nation and the highest slot in the state. The company posted a 20,485 percent growth rate through its sales of murder mystery board games.

Hunt A Killer was one of 15 Baltimore establishments to be recognized, but one town has even more recipients than Maryland's largest city. Rockville stole the show with 22 mentions. The Montgomery County hub had prizewinners from the health, information technology, government services and software industries among others.

Businesses had to apply and pay $245 to be considered for the list. They also had to meet these conditions:

  • Must have submitted their application by May 29, 2020
  • Must be privately-owned and based in the United States
  • Must have started earning revenue by March 31, 2016
  • Must have had at least at least $100,00 in revenue in 2016
  • Must have had at least $2 million in revenue in 2019
  • Must have had a greater revenue in 2019 than 2016
