Prince George's Schools Make Weather Call For Wednesday, Feb. 20

BREAKING: There has been a change in schedule for Prince George's County Public Schools on Wednesday because of snow.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Prince George's County Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 20. Officials made the announcement Tuesday evening.

Both schools and school offices will be closed due to the weather forecast, according to authorities. Emergency personnel only must report to work.

Prince George's County is under a winter storm warning from 1 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, with the National Weather Service calling for 3 to 6 inches of snow and a light glaze of ice. Snow in the morning will mix with and change to sleet and freezing rain by early afternoon, then rain Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

The Bowie city government will remain open on Wednesday with liberal leave for employees, but there will be no recycling, yard waste or special pickups, the city said in an announcement.
