A Bowie man has been charged with murder after he argued with his mother, and then allegedly beat her in the head with a rolling pin.

A Bowie man is charged with his mother’s murder after he allegedly beat her to death with a rolling pin.
Charles Elliott Crockett, 22, of the 12800 block of Holiday Lane is being held on a no-bond status, according to Prince George’s County Police.
The fatal beating took place on Sept. 6. Bowie Police officers were called to the family home on Holiday Lane for a dispute. When they arrived, officers found 55-year-old Roberta Susan Crockett, who lived in the home, unresponsive.

Police say Charles Crockett argued with his mother, then used a rolling pin to repeatedly hit her in the head until she was unconscious. A relative at the home intervened, injuring Crockett with the rolling pin.
The relative then restrained Crockett until police officers arrived. The man who tried to stop the assault was treated at the hospital and released.

On Wednesday, Sept. 16, Roberta Crockett died from her injuries. On Sept. 17, the Prince George’s County Police Department charged Charles Crockett with first- and second-degree murder.
Charles Crockett is being held on a no-bond status.
