Students Found With Guns At Suitland High School, Face Charges: Prince George's Co. Police

Two students were arrested Monday after officers discovered they both had guns with them at school, police say.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Two Suitland High School students have been arrested for taking handguns onto school property Monday.

One student, a 16-year-old male from Suitland, has been charged as an adult. The second student is 18-year-old Christopher Harris of New Carrollton.

Prince George's County sheriff's deputies arrived at the school Monday to execute an arrest warrant for the 16-year-old. He was wanted by the Prince George's Police Department's carjacking June 22 in District Heights. According to the police department, when deputies and the school resource officer found the student, they recovered a gun from his waistband and he was taken into custody. He now faces charges related to the carjacking as well as multiple gun-related charges that include possession of a handgun on school property, the police department reported.

Then at 2 p.m., the school resource officer learned from a parent that Harris also was armed with a handgun. The officer and school security personnel found Harris in a school hallway and found a gun in his backpack. He also was taken into custody, according to the police department. Harris now faces several charges including possession of a dangerous weapon on school property as well as multiple gun-related offenses.
