Suspect In Officer-Involved Shooting Was Also Armed, Faces Charges: Prince George's Police

An investigation has been launched into an officer-involved shooting where the suspect's gun was fired inside his vehicle first.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A Lanham man has been arrested and charged in connection with a non-contact officer-involved shooting that unfolded Monday at approximately 8:40 a.m.

Tyler Clendenen, 20, has been charged with assaulting two Prince George's County police officers and multiple firearms offenses. On Jan. 23, a resident called 911 about a suspicious occupied car in the neighborhood. The caller said that the car’s horn had been sounding for approximately two hours, according to the police department.

Two patrol officers arrived on the scene and approached the car to talk to the driver, later identified as Clendenen, who was the only person in the vehicle. During the officers' interaction with Clendenen, a gun was seen sitting on the front passenger seat, according to a police report.
