Prince George's Teacher Loses Pets, Home, Belongings In Blaze, GoFundMe Set Up To Help

A Prince George's teacher has lost her home, her belongings and her cats in a house fire. A GoFundMe has been established to help her out.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — An English language development teacher and coach in Prince George's must start over after an Oct. 5 fire destroyed her home and killed her cats.

A co-worker of teacher Laurah Jurah has set up a GoFundMe to help support Jurah as she rebuilds her life.

"The flames left her with almost nothing but the clothes on her back and a heart heavy with grief. Laurah's journey to recovery to going to be a long one. She's been displaced from her home and anticipates it will take nine to 12 months to rebuild and regain some semblance of normalcy. In the mean time, she needs our support , both emotionally and financially," wrote Miranda Nelson, a co-worker.

Almost $8,000 has been donated toward the goal of $10,000 via the GoFundMe campaign.

"Let's rally together as a community and show her that she's not alone in this difficult journey," Nelson wrote. "Your generosity will help Laurah rebuild, heal, and start anew after this devastating loss."
