Teens Robbed In Mall Parking Lot, Suspects Sought: Hyattsville Police

Three juveniles were robbed of their clothes, phones and more in the parking lot of The Mall at Prince George's by a group of 8 suspects.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Three juveniles walking between the Metro and The Mall at Prince George's told police they were robbed shortly after 6:30 p.m. March 11 by a large group of people.

According to the Hyattsville Police Department, eight suspects were in the group and implied they had a weapon. They demanded the juveniles give them their clothing, phones and jewelry. The suspects then took off on foot through the mall parking lot.

A youth curfew was enacted in Prince George's County after a baby was shot, four people were killed and several others injured Labor Day weekend 2022. The curfew lasted through the end of the year then was lifted, although it wasn't implemented in all parts of the county.

The Mall in Columbia has been working closely with the Howard County Police to diffuse unwelcome behavior from guests. The move stems from officers arresting individuals from a large group of "disorderly teens" last month and other incidents being reported by mall tenants and shoppers. A youth escort policy also will be enacted, according to mall management.

Brookfield Properties confirmed to Fox 5 that they already implemented a juvenile curfew policy at the Towson Town Center in Maryland, which requires teens 17 years old and younger to be escorted by a parent or supervising adult on Fridays and Saturdays from 4 p.m. to close.
