Thunder Able to Avoid Sweep

The Bowie Baysox had an early lead, but couldn't hold on to sweep the series with the Trenton Thunder.

The Bowie Baysox nearly swept the Trenton Thunder in the last game of the series Sunday evening with an early lead, but fell 6-4 at home. This brings the Baysox to a record of 55-44 on the season and putting them only one-half game behind Harrisburg for first place in the division.

Two Orioles players were in the lineup Sundayโ€”Cesar Izturis and Vladimir Guerrero on major league rehab assignmentsโ€”each getting a hit and a run in the game.

โ€œIt felt good to play in Bowie, especially seeing the guys from Spring Training - itโ€™s a good group of people here and they play hard to win games,โ€ Guerrero said.

While the Baysox got off to an early three run lead in the first inning, they ultimately couldnโ€™t hold on for the win.

Oliver Drake pitched six innings, allowing five runs on eight hits and striking out seven in his second loss of the season. Zach Britton will take the mound Monday as the Baysox face off against the Harrisburg Senators.
