A trooper checking on a vehicle parked along Branch Avenue was hit by his own vehicle when a suspected drunk driver crashed into it.

SUITLAND, MD — A Maryland state trooper is recovering at home after being hit by his own vehicle after a suspected drunk driver crashed into it, shoving the vehicle into the trooper.
The incident happened Saturday morning shortly before 7 a.m. Maryland state troopers were called to the area of southbound Branch Avenue near Moores Road where a fellow trooper had been checking on an unoccupied vehicle that was parked in the right lane. The marked patrol car was parked behind the other vehicle with its emergency lights activated, the police department stated.
While the trooper was standing outside of his patrol vehicle, a black Ford F-150 crashed into the rea of the trooper's vehicle, which caused the vehicle to hit the trooper. The trooper was taken by ambulance to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center for treatment and has been released, according to the Maryland State Police.
