Two Armed Robberies in Two Hours Ends in Arrest

A Laurel man faces multiple criminal charges for allegedly robbing a Laurel restaurant and motel Monday.

LAUREL, MD — A 20-year-old Laurel man has been charged with committing armed robberies at two Laurel businesses in roughly two hours Monday.

Laurel Police say the suspect, Khali Ahmad Campbell, entered Pasta Plus, 209 Gorman Ave., at 5:15 p.m. armed with a handgun and demanded money. He fled on foot. No one was hurt during the robbery.

At 7:23 p.m., police say Campbell struck again, this time at the Holiday Inn Express, 14402 Laurel Place. The suspect description was broadcast and it matched the suspect from the Pasta Plus robbery.

Officers responding to the Holiday Inn saw the suspect on the path at the corner of Laurel Place and Cherry Lane. He was stopped without incident and taken into custody. Police say cash and a black BB gun were recovered.

Campbell has been charged with two counts of armed robbery, three counts of first-degree assault, and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence.
