Vigil at School Remembers Slain Teacher, Daughter

Family and co-workers of a Bradbury Heights Elementary teacher gathered Friday night; the father of her child is charged in their deaths.

FORT WASHINGTON, MD — When NeShante Davis was a little girl, she would play school, showing her destiny as a teacher as a child.

As an adult, Davis was in her first year as a second-grade teacher at Bradbury Heights Elementary School in Capitol Heights.

Friday night, her family and the larger community held a candlelight vigil at the school to remember Davis, 26, and her two-year-old daughter, Chloe Nichole Davis-Green, both of whom were shot to death last week. Investigators say Chloe’s father, recently ordered to pay $600 a month in child support, killed the pair.

Davis’ sister, Georgia Fraser, urged the crowd at Friday’s vigil to recognize signs of domestic abuse and get out of bad situations.

“In honor of NeShante and Chloe’s memory, let’s not allow something like this to happen to anyone else,” Fraser said, reports WTOP.

Prince George’s County Police Department said Daron Maurice Boswell-Johnson, 25, of Forestville has admitted his involvement in the mother/daughter homicide. He is charged with two counts of first- and second-degree murder.

Co-workers, friends, family and parents from Davis’ school gathered to remember her as a hard-working mother who graduated from Bowie State University to pursue her dream of being a teacher.

“I’m a teacher here and she was a wonderful person,” Judy Pirnia told FOX DC.

And while they mourned Davis’ violent, untimely death, and that of her young daughter, many attending the vigil spoke of sharing love.

“It’s amazing how much love in this world. She had much love. A lot of people showed love toward her and her baby,” said Justin Walls, a cousin of Davis, according to WUSA.
