Walmart Employee Assaulted by Disgruntled Customer

Police are looking for a man who assaulted an 18-year-old employee after he wouldn’t let the man buy items he didn’t have enough money for, according to reports from police.

The suspect went into the store on the evening of July 30 and tried to check out with more merchandise than he could afford. The Walmart employee refused to give the man the items he had selected and the man left the store, apparently waiting outside for the employee.

When the Walmart employee, a resident of Upper Marlboro, took a break and went outside, the suspect approached him and sprayed him in the face with mace. The suspect also sprayed a 55-year-old Bowie man who happened to be standing next to the employee, according to the report. Both men were treated on the scene, according to Chief of Police John Nesky.

After spraying both men, the suspect fled on foot in the woods neighboring the Elder Oaks Apartment, according to police reports. Police searched the area, but were unable to find the man. The entire incident was captured on video and the Bowie Criminal Investigation Division is following up on the case.
