Water Main Break Floods Bowie Street; Repairs Made
Utility crews worked for nearly seven hours to pump water away from a main break in Bowie.
BOWIE, MD — A water main break on Mitchellville Road in Bowie poured about 3 million gallons of water into the ground, according to estimates from the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission.
The utility said at 1 p.m. that repairs had wrapped up on the 24-inch line and water service is being restored.

Water flooded the road about 6 a.m. Friday, closing Mitchellville Road between Excalibur Road and Mount Oak Road.
Workers spent hours pumping water off the road and the hole before they could finally repair the line itself.
