
Prince George’s County Public Schools provided the following information regarding delayed opening Tuesday:
Tuesday, February 10: Code Orange—Schools and offices will open with a two hour delay.
- EMERGENCY PERSONNEL must report to work on time and are not eligible for liberal leave. (LAS ESCUELAS COMENZARÁN DOS HORAS DESPUÉS DEL HORARIO NORMAL.)
- There will be NO work-study transportation. (Those students should NOT report to school.)
- There will be no half-day Early Childhood Center (ECC), half-day Special Education Programs or half-day PreK.
- Any other school program requiring transportation prior to noon will NOT have transportation, including Howard B. Owens Science Center.
- All field trips will be cancelled.
- Food Services will offer breakfast.
Much of the region was under a winter weather advisory overnight Monday due to freezing rain and below-freezing temperatures, creating the potential for icy spots to develop.

“What looks wet may be ice,” the Maryland Transportation Authority reported Tuesday morning. Officials advised using extra caution on the roads.
The State Highway Administration (SHA) encouraged drivers to heed speed limits, which are in place for ideal weather conditions.

“SHA asks motorists to drive at the appropriate speed for the conditions this morning and delay travel if warranted,” SHA Administrator Melinda B. Peters said Tuesday morning. “Based upon the storm’s path overnight and this morning, road conditions could change dramatically as you travel, so please use caution.”
