What's Open, Closed In Bowie, Across Prince George's County On MLK Jr. Day 2024
Patch has the scoop on what's open and closed, and when trash will be collected this week, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — On Monday, residents and organizations across Prince George's County will spend time honoring the life and legacy of civil rights icon Martin Luther King, Jr. The federally-observed holiday will impact services in the area.
Local and county government offices will be closed Monday. State offices and the court system also will be closed Jan. 15.
The Prince George's County Memorial Library System and all branches will be closed Sunday and Monday.

Prince George's County Public Schools and offices will be closed Jan. 15.
On Monday, there will not be any scheduled bulky trash pickups for white goods, appliances or scrap tires. Organics collections will occur. There will not be trash collected in county-contracted areas Monday or curbside recycling collected.

The county animal services facility will be closed.
The Brown Station Road Sanitary Landfill will be open as will the Brown Station Road Public Convenience Center. The Electronics Recycling Acceptance Site located at the Brown Station Road Sanitary Landfill will be closed and so will the Household Hazardous Waste Acceptance Site located at the Brown Station Road Sanitary Landfill.
The Missouri Avenue Solid Waste Acceptance and Recycling Center will be open as will the Prince George’s County Organics Composting Facility and the Prince George’s County Materials Recycling Facility.
TheBus, a public transit service operated by the Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation, will operate on a regular schedule Monday except for Route 51x service to the equestrian center/courthouse. Regular operations of Route 51x will resume Tuesday.
PGC311 will be closed Monday and return to regular operations Tuesday. However, residents can still submit service/issue requests online at PGC311.com.
