Woman Arrested For Setting Porch Fire In Bowie: Prince George's Police

A Bowie woman has been arrested and faces arson charges after police say she set a fire on a porch and attempted to set a 2nd fire inside.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A Bowie woman has been arrested on a warrant for first-degree arson.

According to the warrant, on Nov. 17, 2022, Bowie Police responded to a call for a fire at a house. Once at the home, police found the porch on fire. Officers grabbed a fire extinguisher from the cop car and put the fire out.

Prince George's Police reported that the victim ran out from behind the home and told police that Rhonda Mitchell had assaulted the victim and started the fire. Police found Mitchell who was inside the victim's residence, trying to start another fire. Police ordered Mitchell out of the home took her to a local hospital for medical care, according to a police report. On Feb. 3, deputies arrested Mitchell at a Bowie home and charged her with three counts of second-degree assault and resist/interfere with arrest.
