Driver In Crash That Killed Vikings Rookie Khyree Jackson, 2 Others, Sentenced
Cori Clingman has been sentenced in the death of NFL player Khyree Jackson and his pals. She earlier pleaded guilty to negligent homicide.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD — The woman who pleaded guilty of negligent homicide in the death of NFL rookie player Khyree Jackson and his two friends has been sentenced.
In July 2024, 25-year-old Cori Clingman and the victims, Jackson, 24, along with 23-year-old Isaiah Hazel, and 24-year-old Anthony Lytton Jr., who were all friends traveling from the same location, were both driving at high speeds in separate vehicles on MD-4, also known as Pennsylvania Avenue, with speeds surpassing 100 mph, officials said.
The investigation revealed that Clingman’s "reckless and impaired driving" caused the crash, killing all three men inside the other car. According to police, Clingman's silver Infiniti was traveling north on Route 4 when she attempted to change lanes while speeding and hit a Dodge Charger occupied by Jackson and his friends, as well as a Chevrolet Impala. The Charger veered off the road and crashed into multiple tree stumps before stopping, police said.

Lytton was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. Clingman and two passengers were not hurt, police said. The driver of the Impala also was uninjured.
Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Tara Jackson announced that Clingman has been sentenced to 15 years in prison, suspending all but three years, after being convicted of three counts of negligent homicide under the influence of alcohol.

“This case is a painful reminder of how one reckless decision can permanently alter countless lives,” Jackson said. “It was heartbreaking to hear Khyree, Isaiah and Anthony’s parents speak of their children’s dreams being taken away; children they can no longer raise, guide or protect. While today’s sentence holds the defendant accountable, it cannot undo their loss. I hope this outcome deters even one person from speeding recklessly or driving impaired and helps prevent another family and community from enduring this kind of loss.”
Jackson was chosen by the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round of the 2024 draft, according to ESPN. He played his final season of college football at Oregon. Hazel, 23, played at Maryland and Charlotte. Lytton, 24, played at Florida State and Penn State. All three were teammates at Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School in Upper Marlboro, Patch reported previously.
The three men's high school football coach, LaDawn Parrish, spoke with WUSA9 about the loss of the trio shortly after the crash, Patch reported previously.
"All of those young men were tight ... [they] played together," Parrish said. "It's amazing that they went three separate ways in terms of going to college and playing football, but were still always together when they came back home in the summertime. We are all sort of at a loss and you try to get facts from what you think happened and try to know from different reports, but in the end, what you do know is that we lost three young men. That’s final.”
